Success Stories from some of our Adopters

Holly

So here is an update of our girl.... her first Christmas with toys... and she doesn't know how to play!!! She has come out of her shell somewhat.. she hangs with us watching tv (quite an experience for her tv!).... comes when we call her, plays in the backyard with Charlie... lifts her paw to signal us to scratch her belly..... She has become quite the handicapped social girl with us!!!! We've taken her to the doggie park on a 100ft leash so she can learn to play. She enjoys it... she needs to learn how to chase the ball and just relax!!! All in all..... inspite of her regression of peeing on the carpet for the last 4 days (can't figure the trigger with that one).. she is family, and cannot imagine our family without her.!!!

Hello!

I adopted a great dog from your organization a year and a half ago, a malamute/australian shepherd mix. I'm just sending another bunch of photos so you can see how she's doing. These are pictures from a cross-country trip that we did together. As you can see, Ursa LOVES the snow, and hiking in general. She is still fairly shy and aloof around new people, but she is about 90% friendlier than when I adopted her as a puppy, so I'm hoping there will be more of an improvement as she gets older. Some of her shyness, I'm sure, is just her personality. She's definitely loyal to people she knows, however, and once you're in, you're in for good! She's a very loving, calm dog... most of the time. When there are small animals involved, her predatory instinct goes into turbo mode and she completely ignores me. Her kills so far: 1 rooster, 1 squirrel. She would love to add some sheep to that list. (She's ambitious.) I understand this is almost an impossible instinct to control, but we're working on obedience. I think it will take a very long time. She is not allowed off-leash near livestock, that's for sure! To my relief, and with a lot of training, she has become friends with some cats and co-habitates with them very nicely. We also now live with a five year old, and they get along splendidly.
Thanks again,

Laura

At Fawn Lake in Shelton on Christmas day visiting my mum. They LOVE the lake. We have started training class and its slow going...but we are making progress. Still potty training luna. At my home she does pretty good now, not many accidents. But if new situation or she gets stressed or scared...she reverts back.
They are very happy girls! I love having them! Smiles,
