I adopted Maggie Mae from Adopt-A-Pet in Shelton about a year
ago and I wanted to give you an update on her.
She has been rather difficult to take pictures of because she
tends to come bounding up to me when I try to snap a shot. She
hasn't quite learned the "stay" command. The attached picture
is from a camping trip at the beach over Labor Day weekend. I
took her and my other dog to Kalaloch for the weekend and Maggie
had a blast. It was our second camping trip together. I found
that she loves napping on air mattresses. She's a bit chubby in
the picture, but has since trimmed down. The poor girl can
plump up just by looking at food. She enjoys walks, but tires
out quickly. She would very much rather be the couch potato
type of dog. :)
Maggie has been an incredible addition to my critter family.
She and my other dog, Indy, are attached at the hip. They eat,
sleep, and play together. I haven't seen them snap at each
other once. Maggie gets very upset if she can't find him. She
also seems to like my cats, although they are less than thrilled
about her.
I found out quickly that Maggie gets car sick. That probably
explains why she was less than thrilled about the ride to my
house when I picked her up last year. Thanks to our vet, she
gets a bit of Benedryl before a ride, which she takes like a
champ, and now seems to even like car rides. I no longer have
to lift her into the truck... she jumps right in! She hasn't
had any health issues at all and is known as a stoic little girl
at the vet. She didn't whimper a bit about her shots or
microchip. I can even give her shots by myself now.
Thank you so much for bringing Maggie Mae into my life. She has
been an absolute dream and definitely has a home for life. She
is so quiet and well-behaved that I'm considering making her my
horse show companion next year when I show my horse.
