Holly...

I wanted to let you know how I am doing with my new parents.  I attached some pictures of me.

I had a very busy day on Saturday.  I met my new adoptive parents and climbed into the back seat of their SUV.  I felt pretty confident when I promptly went from there to the passenger seat.  I was very good and went to the back seat when I was asked to move.  I went from the shelter to the Pet Hut in Port Orchard.  My new parents put on rubber aprons and with the help of the owner gave me a wonderful warm bath with lots of shampoo and conditioner.  When I was dry we went to Petco in Gig Harbor.  I got to go into the store which was quite an experience.  There were lots of interesting things to see and smell.  I got two dishes for my water and food and a big round soft pad for my bed.

By the time we got home I was tired.  It was dark when we got home.  I walked all around inside the house checking everything out including closets.  I rolled around on my new pad and then laid down on it.  I didn't eat because I was a little nervous.  I slept on my pad next to my parents bed and didn't make a noise all night long. My ball was a security blanket

Sunday morning I was very excited to look outside.  I went out in the yard and inspected everything. I was pleased that I can go in the back yard and run around without a leash because it is fenced.  I went to church with my parents.  I sat in the front seat and watched people go in and out of the church and was happy to see my Mom and Dad come back.  We went for a ride to Orting to deliver Christmas presents and then came home.  I was hungry so I ate dinner. I think they call this adjusting.

I was not responding to the name Maddy so my adoptive parents tried all different kinds of names and the one I responded best to was Holly.  So they talked to a judge and got my name changed.

They got a new leash for me that goes out 16 feet or  can be very short.  They found out that someone must have spent a lot of time with me because I know the basic dog training commands.  I know both the verbal and hand signals.  I sit, down, stay and heel.  I walk in the heel position very well.  I wonder why my former owners didn't keep me because I am so well behaved, smart and sweet.

Merry Christmas to all the people and pets at Adopt A Pet.
