Dax and Dahlia ~
We came to the shelter just looking for 1 puppy – after looking at several options we were shown a litter of pups that weren’t yet ready to take home. The first puppy out of the group was our Dax (his name at the shelter was Freckles). He was shy and scared and shaking like a little leaf. The second puppy was one of his sisters, Daisy, who was cute and chubby and a bit shy like Dax, but not quite as much. The third one that was brought out was Dahlia! She was full of spunk and energy – she wasn’t afraid to explore and check out the whole room. Well we made a family decision and decided that we were going to choose Dax. Before walking out the door I asked if anyone had their eye on Dahlia because I knew she grabbed my heart and my youngest son really wanted her, too. We drove all the way home (to Olympia) and once we got home my husband and I talked and decided it would be best to have 2 puppies!! I called the shelter right away to tell them that we wanted both Dax and Dahlia. After I got off the phone I called my kids downstairs and told them that we were going to have 2 new additions to the family!!
Dax and Dahlia have been a great joy added to the mix! They are fully of energy and sometimes they are a handful but for the most part they have been awesome! A lot of people thought we were crazy for getting 2 puppies but actually it’s been better than just having one. They keep each other company when we aren’t home; they expend their energy on each other and they are each others buddies! Training has been a trick because when you try to work with one the other comes over to see what they are missing out on.
We wouldn’t change it for the world! They are great puppies and very loved!!
